Gamesindustry.biz put out their “Year in Numbers” article today for 2023. Of great interest to Xbox fans is the fact that the platform itself is the most searched company in all of gaming.
Xbox had 308,834 articles written about it this year, which is just over 40,000 more than PlayStation at number 2. Both had a drop of -16%, and -15% Year over Year respectively.
Starfiled was the most covered game with 53,097 articles written about it. It lead Diablo IV in 2nd place by roughly 1,700. Numbers were sourced through ICO Footprints and you can find a link to the full article below.

Starfield keeping Playstation-centric news sites employed this year is the cruellest irony. I think that’s why they hate it so much. Between the lack of anything going on at Sony this year and the massive leaks which they’ve suddenly become conscientious objectors about, it must boil their blood to some extent to keep having to dip into the Xbox exclusive vault to make sure they hit their engagement targets.
If that’s the case it’s going to get worse in 2024.
You can say that again, that Roadmap is looking emptier than a paupers purse. Expect the usual suspects to ramp up their clickbait once Hellblade and Avowed hit.
Outsold 3x this year but more talked about than everyone else?
If you weren’t already certain about why some narratives get pushed, you should be now
More proof of Media using SEO to force articles for clicks. Xbox and MS gets clicks for hate raging articles, I’ve said many times before Sony fans main hobby is dunking on Xbox and their Sony gaming hobby is a secondary side effect of that.
Sweet. Even if a lot of the coverage is negative ragebait, I see this as a win for Game Pass. Some people are going to be like, “This is the most talked about game of the year, for $15 I should check it out.” And even if they don’t end up liking Starfield, maybe they stay for Forza Horizon or Lies of P or something else.
Xbox and Starfild out here giving people jobs, respect.
Xbox does not need PlayStation; the games industry needs Xbox.
I don’t know man, I think there’s A LOT going on at Sony this year but for obvious reasons, gaming media is ignoring it all. LMAO!!!
You mean actively Protecting Sony …
